Spartans Earn ITA All-Academic Status and Place Five as Scholar-Athletes
SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2014 ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes, honoring the university of Tampa along with five of its student-athletes.
Among the UT players earning the honor were Thashia Garcia, Kelsey Matthews, Katherine Pyne, Viviana Tedino and Meg Wladimirski.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.00 scale.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a student-athlete must meet three criteria, including: be a varsity letter winner; have a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.00 scale during the current academic year; have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
