UT Takes Season-Opener Over St. Thomas

MIAMI, Fla. - The No. 37 University of Tampa tennis team started the 2015 regular-season with a 6-3 victory over St. Thomas University.

UT took the first two doubles matches to open play, with the one team of Kristen Mee and Emily Hewland taking an 8-5 victory. The number two team of Kelsey Matthews and Gianna Pinasco also won, claiming an 8-3 decision.

In singles, Mee took the victory at number-one, topping her opponent in straight sets by scores of 6-0, 6-2. Pinasco and Matthews were also victorious at the two and three spots, as Jenelle Morgan won at number six.

The Spartans will now travel to Palm Beach Atlantic to meet the Sailfish on Sunday at 1 p.m., before returning home to Tampa.
