Bio

Heather Waters joined the Spartans prior to the 2026 season, bringing with her an exceptional playing résumé and a deep well of coaching experience. A Clearwater native, Waters was one of the nation’s top junior players and quickly made her mark on the national stage. Her junior accomplishments include earning the U‑14 National Clays silver ball, the U‑18 National Clays bronze ball, and competing as a member of Florida’s Intersectional Team.

Waters also broke barriers early in her career. Competing for Thom Howard Academy, she played on the boys’ high school state championship teams and captured an individual boys’ state title—becoming the first female athlete in Florida to win both a boys’ team and individual state championship.

She continued her standout career at the University of South Carolina, where she earned All‑SEC honors and was named a Second Team All‑American. After college, Waters competed professionally, highlighted by winning a qualifier for the Japan Open. She also represented the United States in ITF World Team events.

Her coaching experience includes serving as an assistant coach at the University of South Carolina and contributing to player development at Harrells Christian Academy. Known for her competitive insight and player‑first approach, Waters brings a blend of elite playing experience and proven coaching leadership to the Spartans program.

Heather is married to Will Waters, a former University of South Carolina golfer. They have two sons, William and Wright, both members of the University of Tampa men’s soccer team.
