Tampa Track Hosts Spartans Classic
TAMPA, Fla. – Competing on their home track, the University of Tampa turned in a dominant performance at the 2026 Spartans Classic on March 13, highlighted by multiple event wins, deep podium finishes, and strong relay showings. Tampa also recognized its senior runners during the event.
The Spartans' sprint corps led the way as Jacob Khashou captured the men's 200 meters in 21.91, while the men's 4x100‑meter relay (Kavulic–Khashou–Leonard–Jordan) cruised to victory in 41.45. Tampa's depth was on full display in the men's 400 meters, where the Spartans swept the top three spots behind Eliezer Nicolas' winning time of 50.13.
On the women's side, Tampa controlled the sprints and hurdles, led by Chloe Green's win in the 100 meters (12.20), a 1–4 sweep in the 400 meters, and a commanding victory in the 4x100‑meter relay (47.88).
The distance groups also impressed, as Lindsey Volkman claimed the women's 5000 meters in 17:16, and Zachary Kehler and Elijiah Rivera finished second and third, respectively, in the men's 5000 meters, capping a balanced and successful home meet for the Spartans.
Top Tampa Performers (Men)
- 100 Meters: In the men's 100 meters, Calvin Jordan led UT with a 2nd‑place finish in 10.68, followed by Antonio Colon in 5th and Max Faught in 7th.
- 200 Meters: In the men's 200 meters, Jacob Khashou captured the event title in 21.91, while Luca Ruis placed 3rd, Calvin Jordan finished 4th, and Collin Kavulic rounded out the top five.
- 400 Meters: In the men's 400 meters, Eliezer Nicolas won the event in 50.13, leading a strong showing that included Luca Rius in 2nd, Daniel Raffin in 3rd, and Revin Olsen in 5th.
- 800 Meters: In the men's 800 meters, Zach Kehler paced the Spartans with a 2nd‑place finish in 1:50, followed closely by Josh Hindman in 3rd and Cyron Gray in 4th.
- 1,500 Meters: In the men's 1500 meters, Will Cerrutti led Tampa with a runner‑up finish in 3:54, while William Poe placed 3rd and Isaac Perez finished inside the top 15.
- 5,000 Meters: In the men's 5000 meters, Zach Kehler finished 2nd in 14:40 to lead UT, with Elijiah Rivera in 3rd, Ace Estevez in 8th, and Brandon Witherow finishing 9th.
- 4x100m Relay: In the men's 4x100‑meter relay, Tampa's A team (Kavulic–Khashou–Leonard–Jordan) won the event in 41.45.
- 4x400m Relay: In the men's 4x400‑meter relay, Tampa's A squad (Perez–Wise–Cerrutti–Gray) captured the victory with a time of 4:08.

- 200 Meters: In the women's 200 meters, Sarah Martinez claimed the victory in 25.49, leading a Tampa sweep of the top four that included Chloe Green, Taylor Robinson, and Allie Murphy.
- 400 Meters: In the women's 400 meters, Allison Murphy won in 56.93, followed by Kate Carter in 2nd, Marielle Clayton in 3rd, and Kendra Krueger in 4th.
- 100m Hurdles: In the women's 100‑meter hurdles, Molly Morris captured the win in 14.88, while Kate Carter also posted a strong showing earlier in the meet.
- 400m Hurdles: In the women's 400‑meter hurdles, Taylor Robinson, Madi Tweedie, and Ava Stout swept the top three positions, all clocking 1:04.
- 800 Meters: In the women's 800 meters, Kate Meinke led the Spartans with a 3rd‑place finish in 2:22, followed by Maddie Gordon in 5th and Meghan Turner in the top 10.
- 1,500 Meters: In the women's 1500 meters, Kara Bergeron paced Tampa with a 3rd‑place finish in 4:44, while Kate Meinke, Katelyn Deitrick, and Emma Barcelona also finished inside the top 10.
- 5,000 Meters: In the women's 5000 meters, Lindsey Volkman won the event in 17:16, followed by Emily Kriney in 2nd, with Camryn Sattler, Taylor Guthrie, and Abby Tudeen all finishing in the top six.
- 4x100m Relay: In the women's 4x100‑meter relay, Tampa's A team (Green–Martinez–Murphy–Morris) captured the victory in 47.88.
- 4x400m Relay: In the women's 4x400‑meter relay, Tampa's A squad (Krueger–Stout–Gordon–Bergeron) closed the meet with a win in 4:09.
