Dixon Records 1,000th Kill as Spartans Take Bite Out Of Sharks
Tampa, Fla. - Junior Katelen Dixon highlighted a one-sided match as the second-ranked University of Tampa volleyball team defeated Nova Southeastern 3-0. The Spartans improve to 25-1 on the season and 11-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Dixon became the 13th player in UT volleyball history to reach the 1,000 kill milestone and the second of this season as teammate Stephanie Rivera also made the list. Entering the match at 995 career kills, Dixon recorded number 1,000 in the second game as she finished with five kills.
Rivera led the Tampa offensive attack with 14 kills as the lone Spartan to record double figures in the category. Gabriela Saade had a team-high 37 assists as Amy Rumore added 10. Margeaux Sinibaldi was the lone Spartan with double figures in digs, recording 15. The Spartans also had nine total blocks as the Sharks had none. Alisha Green and Marinelli both had three to lead Tampa as all three of Marinelli's were solo blocks.
With four regular season matches remaining, Tampa travels to Melbourne to face Florida Tech on Tuesday, October 24. The match is scheduled for 7:00 pm. The Spartans then return home to face Barry on Saturday, October 28 at 4:00 pm.
