Spartans Continue Reign in National Top 10
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Tampa volleyball team claimed the sixth spot in the AVCA Division II Coaches Poll, after being second in last week's release.
The Spartans are coming off a pair of a pair of victories over North Alabama and Alabama-Huntsville at the UNA Regional Crossover Tournament. Tampa also suffered a loss to #17 West Florida at the tournament. UT is now 18-2 and 7-1 in Sunshine State Conference play.
While being ranked in 169 consecutive polls, the Spartans have now been represented in the national top 10 for 48 straight weeks, marking the longest current streak in NCAA II.
Tampa will resume SSC play as it hosts Saint Leo on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Spartans then play host to #8 Florida Southern on Friday. The Florida Southern match will be part of UT's "Dig for the Cure" as it will raise money for breast cancer awareness.
