Melissa Vanderhall Named SSC Player of the Week
ORLANDO, Fla. - After leading the sixth-ranked University of Tampa volleyball team to three victories, Melissa Vanderhall has earned Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. This marked the second time this season that Vanderhall has received the award, with the other coming on October 13.
Vanderhall, a sophomore from Hempstead, N.Y., led the No. 6 Spartans to three wins, including a pair of conference victories over Saint Leo and No. 8 Florida Southern. Vanderhall averaged 4.0 kills, 1.5 digs, 0.8 service aces, and 0.5 blocks per set. She recorded a solid .375 attack percentage. Vanderhall notched 13 kills and five service aces in a three-set sweep over SLU. She narrowly missed a double-double with 18 kills, nine digs, and four blocks in a four-set win versus FSC. She rounded out the week with 17 kills and six digs in five-set win over Dowling.
