Spartans Move Into National Top Five
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Tampa volleyball team claimed the fifth spot in the AVCA Division II Coaches Poll, after being sixth in last week's release.
The Spartans are coming off three victories last week, including a 3-1 win over eighth-ranked Florida Southern. Tampa also defeated Saint Leo (3-0) and Dowling (3-2). UT is now 21-2 and 9-1 in Sunshine State Conference play.
While being ranked in 170 consecutive polls, the Spartans have now been represented in the national top 10 for 49 straight weeks, marking the longest current streak in NCAA II.
Tampa hosts Flagler on Tuesday at 7 p.m., before traveling to Barry on Friday and Nova Southeastern on Saturday.
