UT Alum and Former Volleyball Standout Meghan Sherman Blogging With Professional Team
Gästgivaregatan, Sweden - Former University of Tampa volleyball setter Meghan Sherman, now playing professional volleyball with the Ljungby Volleyball Klubb in Sweden, is providing a blog for fans to follow her success in the pro ranks.
After completing her eligibility and degree requirements in the fall of 2010, Sherman spent the spring of 2011 with BRSE, a professional team based in Hungary. She is now playing her first season in Sweden.
Sherman, a native of Ponte Vedra, Fla., played for the Spartans from 2007-10 and most recently guided UT to the NCAA Division II national championship match. She was on four NCAA tournament teams and won four Sunshine State Conference championships as the setter for Tampa.
She concluded her career with 3,408 assists in 127 matches. She also registered 63 service aces, 689 digs and 146 total blocks. A two-time first-team AVCA All-American (2009-10), Sherman also earned first-team all-South Region twice while beings a first-team all-SSC choice in 2010.
Sherman has earned a spot in the UT career record books, ranking fifth in assists, eighth in assists per set (8.67) and first in serve percentage (.941). She is also fifth in single-season assist percentage with a .502 showing in 2009.
