Danielle Selkridge Named South Region Player of the Year; Eva Dupa and Kahley Patrick Also Honored

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - On the eve of the opening round of the NCAA tournament, University of Tampa volleyball player Danielle Selkridge has been named the Daktronics South Region Volleyball Player of the Year. Teammates Eva Dupay and Kahley Patrick were also named first-team performers.

The national leader in hitting percentage, Selkridge is also a four-time Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week while being the Most Outstanding Player at both the Tampa Classic and Regional Crossover.

A junior middle hitter from Tortola, Virgin Islands, Selkridge leads the No. 2 Spartans in kills (327), hitting percentage (.522), block solos (43), block assists (63), total blocks (106) and points (401.5). In 2011, she has hit .500-or-better in 20 matches.

Dupay, a senior outside hitter from Fort Myers, Fla., is second on the team with 261 kills. She has also notched 279 digs to go with 48 total blocks. Dupay was also named to the Regional Crossover all-tournament team while being the first SSC Player of the Week for UT this season.

Patrick, a freshman from Clearwater, Fla., has started all 30 matches in her first collegiate season. She leads UT with 991 assists. She also has 16 service aces to go with 242 digs and 17 blocks.

All first-team selections will now appear on the national ballot for All-American honors. The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA), with the online nomination and voting process powered by ATHLETICSITE.COM.
