Danielle Selkridge and Kahley Patrick Claim Top SSC Prizes

ORLANDO, Fla. - A total of 16 student-athletes have been named to the 2011 All-Sunshine State Conference Volleyball Team. Tampa's Danielle Selkridge was named Player of the Year, while her teammate, Kahley Patrick, was tabbed Freshman and Newcomer of the Year. Eckerd's Courtney Draper was selected Coach of the Year.

Earning All-SSC first-team honors with Selkridge were: OH Lindsay Biggs (Eckerd), MB Danielle Bletso (Saint Leo), OH Megan Hodges (Rollins), MH Lauren Huber (Florida Southern), MB Alex Laton (Eckerd), and L Julie Howlett (Tampa).

Named second team all-conference were: MB Brittany Brown (Lynn), RS Ariana Chinn (Eckerd), OH Eva Dupay (Tampa), MB Danielle Graham (Nova Southeastern), S Bri Smith (Eckerd), OH Jessica Yingling (Tampa), and L Hallie Ward (Eckerd). Liberos Emily Calderon-Reyes (Saint Leo) and Phoebe Corder (Rollins) received honorable mention.

A junior from Tortola, Virgin Islands, Selkridge ranks fourth in the SSC with 3.27 kills per set. Her .522 hitting percentage is not only tops in the league but also in all of NCAA Division II. Selkridge leads the conference with an average of 1.06 blocks per frame.

A native of Clearwater, Fla., Patrick made an immediate impact in her debut season at Tampa. She ranked second in the SSC with 9.44 assists per set. Under her guidance at the setter position, the Spartans lead the conference with a .314 team hitting percentage and 14.30 kills per set. UT's team attack percentage also ranks fourth among DII schools.

Patrick was also joined by classmate Meagan Burke on the all-newcomer team.
