Danielle Selkridge Ends Season as Nation’s Leader in Hitting Percentage
INDIANAPOLIS - University of Tampa junior volleyball player Danielle Selkridge has concluded the 2011 season as the NCAA Division II leader in hitting percentage, as announced Friday by the NCAA.
The native of Tortola, Virgin Islands, capped the 2011 season with a .498 hitting percentage. As a first-team All-American, the Sunshine State Conference and South Region Player of the Year led all Spartans with 379 kills, 119 blocks and 462.5 points.
As a sophomore, Selkridge finished the season No. 2 in hitting percentage after logging a .461 clip in 2010.
Freshman Meagan Burke finished No. 22 in hitting percentage with a .357 showing as senior Camille Hanks came in at No. 31 with a .348 mark. Selkridge was also ranked No. 51 with 1.03 blocks per set.
As a team, head coach Chris Catanach's Spartans were No. 3 in hitting percentage (0.31), No. 13 in blocks per set (2.4), No. 14 in kills per set (14.17) and No. 23 in assists per set (12.81).
