Tampa to Host NCAA South Regional, Play Clark Atlanta in First Round
INDIANAPOLIS - For the eighth consecutive season, the University of Tampa has been selected as the host of the 2012 NCAA South Region Volleyball Tournament, as the NCAA unveiled its field for the 2012 tournament.
The Division II Women's Volleyball Committee has selected the 64 teams that will be participating in the 2012 Division II Women's Volleyball Championship.
Eight teams were selected from each of the following eight regions: Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West.
Eight, eight-team regionals will be played at on-campus sites. Regional competition will be single-elimination, best-of-five sets matches and will not include a third-place match.
The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the championship finals, Dec. 6-8. Competition at the final site will be single-elimination, best-of-five sets matches.
Tampa, the Sunshine State Conference champions, completed the league with a perfect 16-0 record and are 27-3 overall. The Spartans will open against Clark Atlanta, who is 23-17
The site of the finals will be on the campus of West Florida at the UWF Field House.
Tickets may be purchased at the gate for $10 (adults) and $6 (students with ID/senior citizens). Children under the age of five shall be admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.
UT will offer live stats and a video webcast for each of the NCAA South Regional matches.
