UT Volleyball Ranked No. 22 in AVCA Poll
The Spartans fall three spots to the No. 22 rank in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Poll.
LEXINGTON , Ky. – After a 1-1 week in Sunshine State Conference action, the University of Tampa volleyball team dropped to No. 22 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II poll as released Monday.
The Spartans sit 9-4 on the season with a 3-2 tally in SSC contests after splitting its weekly matchups this past week. UT fell in five sets to then-No. 21 Florida Southern College before rebounding to beat Florida Tech by a 3-1 score.
Minnesota-Duluth unseated Concordia, St. Paul as the top-ranked team in the nation as the two squads faced-off this past weekend with the victory going to the Bulldogs of UMD. The Golden Bears slid to No. 2 in the country with the loss while Nebraska-Kearney, Southwest Minn. State and Wheeling Jesuit all stay put at No. 3, 4 and 5, respectively.
Palm Beach Atlantic continues as the No. 15 team, the highest ranked program in the region. Gulf South Conference foe North Alabama holds the No. 21 ranking while rival Florida Southern shares the No. 22 spot with the Spartans.
Tampa has been ranked in 275 consecutive polling periods dating back to the 1995 campaign. The active program record is second only to Central Missouri, as the Jennies are ranked No. 11 in this week's poll.
