TAMPA, Fla.- The Sunshine State Conference announced its women's volleyball player of the week winners, tabbing University of Tampa outside hitter Sorrel Houghton as the Offensive Player of the Week. This marks the second time that Houghton has received this honor, her first time this season.
Houghton was named to the 2018 South Region Crossover All-Tournament Team after leading Tampa to a 3-0 record this past weekend. In a 3-1 win against Valdosta State University, Houghton earned 21 kills on 48 attempts, hitting .250 on the match. Against Lee University, the Osteen, Florida native had 11 kills on 36 attempts hitting .222 as the Spartans won 3-1. Finally, in a 3-2 win against No. 12 University of West Florida, the sophomore logged a season and team-high of 22 kills on 40 attempts, only committing three errors and earning a hitting percentage of .475. On the weekend, Sorrel had 54 kills and a kill percentage of .315, putting her third in the SSC with 334 on the season, averaging 3.80 kills per set.
