No.12 Tampa Takes Down Embry-Riddle to Push Win Total to 15 Games
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The No. 12 ranked University of Tampa Spartans volleyball team defeated Embry-Riddle 3-1 to advance to an 9-1 Sunshine State Conference record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Set: Embry-Riddle jumped out to an early 10-5 lead. Following a timeout, the Spartans would battle back utilizing digs from #5 JJ Ramirez and #1 Emily Noe that led to kills by kills from #8 Melisa Ellias and #11 Katie McKiel. Tampa would close out the first set 25-18. Score: 1-0 Tampa
Second Set: The Spartans would jump out to an early 5-0 lead. Embry-Riddle, however, would flip the script on the Spartans come back to tie the set at 18 a piece. Two big Embry-Riddle blocks late in the set would help close the set 25-22. || Score: 1-1 Tie
Third Set: The third set was a back-and-forth battle, neither side gaining a clear advantage. Two of Tampa's middle blockers, #16 Taylor Fosler and #14 Sierra Rayzor helped the Spartans with multiple bocks and kills throughout the set. A block from Fosler and McKiel would clinch the third set for the Spartans, 25-21. || Score: 2-1 Tampa
Fourth Set: Tampa took control of the fourth set early. Ramirez had back-to-back aces and multiple kills from #15 Kalli Cors ensured the Spartans remained in control. A kill from middle blocker #19 Mackenzie Dufresne put the Spartans up 24-18, and a net violation from Embry Riddle on the ensuing play would end the match. || Final: 3-1 Tampa
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Claudia Rivera had 24 digs, her sixth match this season with 20 or more.
- Elias' 29 assists tied her season high and marks 10 matches this season with 20 or more.
- Dufresne had a season high ten kills in tonight's matchup.
