Claudia Rivera earns SSC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa Libero, Claudia Rivera has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference's Defensive Player of the Week as the Spartans improved to a 16-2 overall record. 

Rivera takes Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in Tampa's SSC wins over Saint Leo, Embry-Riddle, and Rollins. The Gurabo, Puerto Rico product recorded 55 digs this week at 5.5 per set clip. Rivera also added five assists, a kill, and an ace to her stat sheet. The senior posted game-high digs against Saint Leo (20) and Embry-Riddle (24) and currently ranks third in the SSC in digs this year with 281.

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of October 11 - 17, 2021. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
