Imperiale Named AVCA National Coach of the Year
TAMPA, Fla. - Head coach Brian Imperiale has been named the AVCA National Coach of the Year.
In his first year as head coach, Imperiale has guided Tampa to a perfect 31-0 record entering the program's NCAA quarterfinal matchup versus Ferris State. Tampa won its 30th SSC title this season and most recently swept Barry at the Bob Martinez Center to advance to the Elite Eight in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Spartans finished the regular season with a perfect 28-0 record, which is the first time in the history of the program. Imperiale has also helped student-athletes Jenna Davis, Nathaly Perez, Connor Rahn, and Tess Schrenger achieve All-America recognition. Imperiale was named SSC and AVCA South Region Coach of the Year.
The Spartans will face Ferris State this evening at 8:00 p.m. EST. Tampa has its sights on winning its fifth national title and finishing the season unbeaten for the first time in program history.
