Tampa Women Maintain National Top 10 Ranking
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Following a pair of highly successful performances, The University of Tampa women's cross country team is ranked eighth in the nation in the newest US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA II Poll.
The Spartans, who were ranked seventh in the initial poll, have competed in two races in the 2008 season. UT began the season with a first place performance among 11 teams at the UT Early Bird Classic.
Tampa then finished third at the University of Florida's Mountain Dew Invitational, a race that featured 14 schools. Among the 14 teams were nine NCAA Division I schools, seven of which UT defeated.
Tampa will return to action on Sat. at the Florida State Invite. The event will take place at the Greenbelt Parkway in Tallahassee.
