Spartans Place 24th at NCAA Championships
JOPLIN, Mo. - The University of Tampa women's cross country team wrapped up its 2015 season with a 24th-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Division II national championships.
Adams State University won the women's national championship, totaling 83 total points with four runners finishing in the top 20. The top-five also included Grand Valley State (97), Hillsdale (140), Chico State (212) and Western State (247).
Tampa finished with 573 points, ranking first among the three schools representing the NCAA South Region. Saint Leo University was 27th with 629 points while Union (Tenn.) University finished 32nd with 950 points.
Claudia Cancello was UT's top runner, finishing the 6K with a time of 21:33.90 to place 37th overall. Chantalle Blundell was the second Spartan to cross the finish line, coming in 51st with a time of 21:49.60.
Also running for Tampa was Elaina Cancello (22:43.50), Danielle Kissel (23:03.80), Juli Boehm (23:51.70), Aislinn Sroczynski (23:59.70) and Aimee Epps (24:22.10).
This marks the 13th straight season that UT has competed at the national championships, dating back to the 2003 season. The 2015 Sunshine State Conference and NCAA South Region champions complete another highly successful season as they were also champions of the non-Division I scoring for the UF Mountain Dew Invite.
