Zoe Jarvis Named SSC Female Runner of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa cross country runner Zoe Jarvis was named the Sunshine State Conference Female Runner of the Week for first time this season.  
 
Jarvis finished first at Florida Tech's Invitational in Melbourne this past weekend. The Tampa native recorded a 5k time of 18:42.38 to win by nine seconds over teammate Shannon Sweeney. Tampa took the top eight spots in the race earning a team victory for the Spartans. 
 
The win at Florida Tech's Invitational marks the second win for Jarvis this season. Jarvis also took the top spot at the Valdosta State Border Clash after posting a 5k time of 18:47.0. 
 
This weekly award is the second of her career. She last won the award on Sept. 25, 2017, after finishing 10th overall amongst all runners at the University of Florida Mountain Dew Invitational. Jarvis finished as the top SSC runner in the race and second among all Division II runners.
 
Tampa will travel to the University of Florida to compete in this year's running of the Mountain Dew Invitational on Saturday, September 22.
 
Athletes of the Week were chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of September 3 - 9, 2018. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
