Spartans Set to Battle Knights

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa baseball team will host the Lynn University Knights for a weekend series starting Friday at 6 pm. 

The Matchup: No. 9 University of Tampa vs. No. 16 Lynn University

Date/Time: Friday April 14th at 6 p.m., Saturday April 15th at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Location: University of Tampa Baseball Field | Tampa, Fla.

About the Spartans: After dropping a series to Tusculum College (2-1), University of Tampa is 24-10 overall and 10-2 in conference for the season. The Spartans are led in batting average by Kevin Santa with .411 after going 4-12 with two doubles and two runs in the series. J.D. Osborne also tops the batting average chart with .410 after a 4-13 weekend with one RBI and one home run against the Pioneers. The pitching staff is led by David Lebron who has a 2.81 ERA and has made an appearance for 57.2 innings. Cheyne Bickel joins him with a 2.81 ERA, has pitched for 32 innings, and has recorded 33 strikeouts.

About the Knights: The Knights are coming off of a loss (9-6) to St. Thomas as they travel to Tampa to take on the Spartans. They are 25-14 overall and 8-7 in the SSC. They are led by Tyler Curtis with a .453 batting average. The pitching staff for the Knights is led by Donovan Armas who has a 2.86 ERA, has pitched 63 innings, and recorded 76 strikeouts. 

Series History: Tampa owns the all-time series over the Knights by a 68-24 mark. 

Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
