SSC Names Logan Wells Coach of the Year as 15 Spartan Runners Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference is pleased to announce the All-Conference Women's Outdoor Track Awards following the 2026 season. Taylor Roth of Embry-Riddle was named Distance Runner of the Year, Michala Daniels, also of Embry-Riddle, was named Sprinter of the Year, Jahkya Miller of Barry was named Freshman of the Year, and Tampa's Logan Wells was voted Coach of the Year.
Tampa runners named all-SSC are Mary Richmond (first team 3,000 Steeple), Hannah Diete (first team 1,500), Allison Murphy (first team 400H), Emily Kriney (first team 5,000), Camryn Sattler (second team 10,000), Madelyn Gordon (second team 3,000 Steeple), Allison Murphy (second team 100H), Kate Carter (second team 100H, 400H, 4x100 Relay), Kendra Krueger (second team 800), Madi Tweedie (second team 400H), Lindsey Volkman (second team 5,000), Abby Tudeen (second team 5,000), Sarah Martinez (second team 4x100 Relay), Marielle Clayton (second team 4x100 Relay), Anna Thomas (second team 4x100 Relay)
First Team and Second Team All-SSC honors reflect an athlete's finish at the league championship, held on Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, at the Embry-Riddle Track & Field Complex in Daytona Beach, Florida. Conference champions are named First Team, while second and third-place finishers earn Second Team laurels. A vote of league coaches following the championship determines the Outdoor Track superlatives.
Roth earned Distance Runner of the Year honors after placing second in the 1500 meters at the SSC Championship. The sophomore from Minster, Ohio, posted a season- and career-best time of 4:31.54 in the event. She also recorded the fastest 800-meter prelim time in the conference with an NCAA qualifying mark of 2:08.55 before finishing sixth in the finals. Roth additionally contributed to the Eagles' 4x400 relay team, which posted a season-best time of 3:52.
Daniels claimed Sprinter of the Year recognition following an impressive SSC Championship performance that included three individual titles and a relay championship. The senior from Annandale, Virginia, captured the 100 hurdles with a career-best time of 14.23 before adding victories in the 100 and 200 with personal-record times of 11.97 and 24.74, respectively. Named SSC Women's Athlete of the Meet, Daniels also helped guide Embry-Riddle to the conference title in the 4x100 relay.
Miller was selected Freshman of the Year after playing a key role in Barry's 4x400 relay championship and scoring in the 100, 200, and 100 hurdles. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native placed sixth in both the 100 and 100 hurdles, recording season-best times of 12.15 and 15.28. The Female Freshman of the Meet also finished seventh in the 200 with a time of 25.30 and contributed to Barry's sixth-place 4x100 relay team that clocked a 48.34.
Wells earned Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season after leading Tampa to consecutive SSC Outdoor Track championships. The Spartans totaled 169 points, finishing 66 points ahead of the competition. Tampa claimed conference titles in the 3000 steeplechase, 1500, 400 hurdles, and 5000 while also posting runner-up and third-place finishes across multiple events, including the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles, 5000, 3000 steeplechase, 800, 10,000, and 200 meters.
