Women's Cross Country Registers Top NCAA Championships Finish Since 2019
KENOSHA, Wis. – The University of Tampa women's cross country team capped its 2025 season with a strong showing at the NCAA Division II National Championships on Saturday at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course, placing 25th overall. The finish marks Tampa's highest national placement since 2019, when the Spartans earned 23rd.
Under head coach Logan Wells, the Spartans made their fourth straight NCAA Championship appearance and the 19th in program history, continuing the program's long-standing presence on the national stage.
Tampa delivered a balanced team effort, once again led by senior Lindsey Volkman, who placed 76th overall and set the early tone for the Spartans. Sophomore Hannah Diete followed with another postseason breakthrough, clocking a performance that now ranks 19th on Tampa's all-time 6K list, marking a key milestone in her progression.
Sophomore Kara Bergeron, junior Taylor Guthrie, and sophomore Camryn Sattler formed the team's scoring pack through the middle of the race, while Mary Richmond and freshman Abby Tudeen provided crucial depth to help secure Tampa's top-25 national finish.
