Tampa is Red Hot in Cool Weather, Wins Second Game of the Season

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa stays hot, despite the cool weather, to finish the weekend home stand, as they win 15-12 against Newberry College.

How It Happened

• Both teams came out hot in the first quarter, scoring a combined six goals. Tampa's Tommy Ortega found the back of the net first.

• Moments later, Ortega would score again off an assist by Connor McDonough, but Newberry responded quickly to keep the lead at 1.

• Halfway through the first quarter, McDonough would score a goal of his own; however, Newberry would add 2 goals to even the score.

• Grant Green gets on the board for the Spartans after a scoreless 5 minutes in the second quarter.

• Green nets another, assisted by Zack Friend.

• Friend scores for himself, with Ortega adding his third, a first-half hat trick.

• Jackson Bashaw gets in on the scoring, assisted by Aaron Cho.

• Newberry finally adds to the second quarter scoring, 8-4 Spartans.

• Ortega scored his fourth goal of the game, assisted by Green.

• Rex Kressling scores, to match the Spartans goal output from Friday, in just the first half.

• Newberry scores 30 seconds into the third quarter, 10-5.

• Tampa adds a goal midway through the third quarter, scored by Jack Spears and assisted by Ortega.

• Newberry adds, making it a 1-goal-a-piece third quarter.

• Ortega nets his fifth goal to open the fourth quarter, assisted by Friend; shortly later, Newberry adds a goal.

• Green gets a hat trick of his own, goal assisted by McDonough, with Newberry adding one second after.

• Cho scores an unassisted goal, with Green adding his fourth, assisted by McDonough.
